David Dreher moved to Diamondhead, Mississippi after finishing school at The University of Southern Mississippi. He quickly realized that his new home was located in a fantastic golf cart community, and he bought his first cart and began customizing it. Unfortunately, he received less than quality parts and sub-par customer support. David knew this was his opportunity to do a better job, and in 2006, he started Gulf Coast Golf Carts right out of his home.

And it isn’t from just selling them – our knowledge and experience comes from years of the most intensive use and maintenance of golf cars – on actual golf courses! We are affiliated with Ratcliffe Golf Services, Inc., and we have managed golf courses in the Charlotte, North Carolina area for over 36 years. During that time, we have bought, owned and sold golf cars of all makes and models – and we have learned a lot. At Paradise Golf Cars, you can benefit from our experience.
John and Lisa are originally from Northeast Ohio. John has been coming to New Smyrna Beach since the late 70’s when his parents, Tony & Bess bought a condo in The Golden Arms. He would visit Florida every year with his family and relatives, and has many fond memories from their vacations to this wonderful town. John always dreamed of living in Florida from the time he was a kid.
John and Lisa began coming here together in 1998, when they met. They were finally able to call New Smyrna their home in 2014. They purchased the Salty Mermaid Oceanfront Hotel property one year later. After complete renovations, they opened for business in May of 2016.
You can find John and Lisa in the office or on the property on a daily basis, while their daughter Lia attends school. It is very much a family run business, with every member actively involved, making the business a success.
John, Lisa, and Lia love meeting and talking to their guests and the many people that stop by. On weekends, you will see the family out riding around town on bikes, golf carts, or scooters.
They love to shop and eat at the numerous locally owned businesses that line Flagler Avenue to Canal Street. They enjoy supporting all local business and being able to share what is special about each place. It makes for a very enjoyable, relaxed, and laid back beach life, with the bonus of making new friends along the way.
Lisa is a realtor and loves finding the perfect home or second home for anyone who is looking to buy in this area. She plays concierge to the many people passing through that need suggestions on dining, what to do for fun, fishing tours, surfing lessons, farmers markets, flea markets, festivals, art, yoga, skin care, and everything in between.

After spending time working in the motorcycle industry for a couple of Harley-Davidson dealerships as a service manager, Michael still realized that he had a passion for the golf car industry.
