Golf Course Cart Etiquette

Most of this publication is devoted to golf carts that rarely or never see a golf course. But many of you own golf carts for, well, golfing. Golf is a game of etiquette, and that includes the use of carts on the course. Bad etiquette can cause disruptions and damage if not used properly. Here are some tips for practicing good golf cart etiquette on the course.

Drive safely and responsibly - Golf carts can be a lot of fun to drive, but they're not meant for joyriding. Keep your speed under control and avoid sudden stops and turns. Be aware of your surroundings and keep a safe distance from other golfers and obstacles.

Share carts when possible - If you're playing in a group, try to share a golf cart with another player. Not only does this reduce the number of carts on the course, but it can also save you money on cart rental fees.

Avoid distractions - If you're a passenger in a golf cart avoid distracting the driver with loud music or conversation. Let them focus on driving and navigating the course. If you need to make a phone call or check your email, wait until you're off the course.

Respect other golfers - Be mindful of other golfers on

the course and avoid disrupting their game. Don't drive too close to them or make noise that could distract them. And if you accidentally hit someone else's ball, apologize and offer to replace it.

Keep the course in good condition - Golf carts can cause damage to the course if not driven carefully. Stay on the designated cart path whenever possible and avoid driving on wet or soft ground. And never drive a cart near a green or bunker, as this can cause damage to the turf.

Clean up after yourself - When you're finished with your round, be sure to clean out the golf cart and return it to the designated area. Throw away any trash and remove any personal belongings. And if you notice any damage to the cart, report it to the course staff.

By practicing good golf cart etiquette, you can help ensure a safe and enjoyable round of golf for yourself and others on the course. Remember to always follow the rules of the course, drive safely and responsibly, share carts when possible, avoid distractions, respect other golfers, keep the course in good condition, and clean up after yourself. With these tips in mind, you'll be well on your way to being a courteous and considerate golfer.

“L” SOUNDBAR MOUNTING BRACKETS BY ECOXGEAR

ECOXGEAR’s new V5 universal “L” mounting brackets are designed to provide mounting solutions for many golf carts in the market. DJ KHALED ‘GRATEFUL’ AFTER DIDDY GIFTS HIM LUXURY GOLF CART

“Thank you @diddy love brother beautiful gift!!!!!!!” he wrote in the post’s caption. “Grateful ! #LetsGoGolfing.”

In a separate post, Diddy praised Khaled on his golf game, as well as explaining his reasoning behind the gift.”I’m so proud of my brother @DJKhaled for all the work he’s putting in on the golf course,” he wrote. “Enjoy my gift to you! I had to find the flyest of the fly for my brother! This ain’t no regular degular golf cart!”

Last month, the GOD DID producer teased a new television show focused on golf with help from Diddy and actor Mark Wahlberg. In a series of videos posted on Instagram, Khaled was spotted with Puff playing a round of golf.

In one clip, Khaled takes a big swing as The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Juicy” plays in the background, while Diddy enthusiastically bigs up the Miami mogul’s golf game. In another video, the Bad Boy boss reveals they’ve already shot the pilot episode of Khaled’s new golf show, and that there’s a bidding war for the rights to the series.

In addition to getting Puff’s support, Khaled shared another post of him on a FaceTime call with Mark Wahlberg to discuss the venture.

Interview with Chuck Seney of Seney2 Customs

GCMAG: Hi Chuck, thank you for joining us today. Can you start by telling us where your business, Seney2 Customs, is located?

CHUCK SENEY: Sure, we're located in North Greenbush, NY.

GCMAG: Great, now let's talk about the custom build you recently completed. Can you tell us what year, brand, and model the cart is?

CHUCK: It's a 1989 EZ-GO Marathon custom dune buggy golf cart.

GCMAG: That sounds like quite the unique build. Can you give us some more details about the customization process and what sets this cart apart from others?

CHUCK: Absolutely. First off, I want to say that this build, as with all my custom carts, would not be possible without the countless hours of help from Vic Dejohn. Vic designs all my electrical systems and ships me quality parts. Vic also goes above and beyond with helping me when I have questions or need advice.

This cart started life as a 1989 EZGO Marathon. Once in my shop, it was stripped down to the bare frame and replaced everything with brand new modern parts and upgraded to a 48-volt system. Hundreds of hours of labor went into this truly custom build. Everything used in this build is brand new technology, with over $7000 in new parts alone, plus all the labor to build this one-of-a-kind machine.

The custom fiberglass dune buggy body is covered in Dodge Viper red paint. It's 8 inches wider and 4 inches longer than stock, which makes it drive like a mini truck. Every inch of wiring and cables are brand new, and no corners were cut when building this truly unique high-end cart. It features an Admiral 8hp speed/torque motor, Curtis 500-amp programmable controller, Curtis Albright heavy duty solenoids, brand new NAPA golf cart batteries, and much more.

GCMAG: Wow, that's quite the impressive list of features. Were there any custom fabrication or custom made parts in this build?

Chuck: Yes, this is a 1970's Meyer Manx style fiberglass body cut down and reworked to fit the golf cart.

GCMAG: That's really cool. Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you got into building custom golf carts? CHUCK: I've been building and customizing cool items for over 35 years. I started to build golf carts about 15 years ago and have never looked back.

GCMAG: It sounds like you have a lot of experience in this field. What are your future plans for you or your company?

CHUCK: My plan is to continue building one-off custom golf carts one at a time. Each cart is unique and personalized for the individual customer, and I want to keep that level of customization in every build.

BUILDER USES FACEBOOK GROUP TO RAFFLE RADICAL LIMO CART

Social media platforms like Facebook and others are an extremely popular way to reach people, whether for personal or business purposes. Facebook Groups are also quite prevalent tin the golf cart world, with hundreds of Group Pages set up solely for the use and pleasure of carting enthusiasts.

Eric Shadoan is a cart builder in Sumter, South Carolina, who recently completed his first custom project, a stunning, limo-style cart that turned out as a beautiful example of his work.

“Originally, I built it to use in the Halloween Parade at Ocean Lakes in Myrtle Beach, a huge campground and resort on the ocean where the majority of people get around in golf carts,” Shadoan says. “My initial thought was to enjoy it for a while, using it personally and taking it to events like car shows and things like that. But then when I decided to sell it, I decided to try something different than just listing it for sale somewhere.”

That’s when he got the idea to create a Facebook Group

Page called Golf Cart Giveaway. The Group now has just under 900 members and turned out to be the perfect audience for doing a raffle to auction off the custom cart. “I wanted to make it so the average person without a lot of money could still end up with a custom $15,000.00 cart, so I started selling 200 spots for $100.00 each to enter the raffle,” Shadoan said. He also held “mini raffles” for $50.00 per spot. “This was to allow anyone with just $50.00 to get a chance to enter the main raffle, and the response was awesome,” he said. “My goal was to get my money back from the cart build and maybe start another one. There were people who bought 10 tickets at $100.00 each, but I wanted to make it affordable to more entrants.” He used a random number generator to select the $50.00 winners who then advanced to the main raffle.

Shadoan was meticulous in the way he set up the raffle process and record keeping to be sure there were no issues with Facebook’s rules and regulations. “I kept meticulous track of every single raffle entry in the event something went wrong, I could contact the entrants and return their money, but

thankfully that wasn’t necessary.” He also had to set up PayPal, Venmo and other online payment methods to keep everything running smoothly.

Shadoan valued his state-of-the-art custom cart at $15,000.00 and set up the raffle so there would be multiple winners. His goal was $20,000 in total ticket sales, with 1st Place receiving the cart, 2nd Place receiving $3,000.00 and 3rd Place getting $2,000.00.

Shadoan’s efforts to raffle off his cart got a lot of attention via his Facebook Group Page. The people at Big Bad Carts, with operations in Texas and Florida, reached out to him and asked him to organize and run their raffle for a Navitas chassis with 100 spots at $50.00 each. “We just started selling spots and as of late March 2023 we only have 18 spots left,” he says.

This stunning custom limo cart was won by Mario Sobers who lives in the Dallas, Texas, area. He bought in on a $50.00 mini raffle ticket. “It was the exact same cart I messaged Eric about 1 year prior, asking him to sell it to me but he wasn’t ready to part ways with it yet,” says Sobers. “By that time I had already purchased another golf cart, so when my neighbor, Lee, tagged me in the post I didn’t want to spend $100 as I didn’t need a second cart. A couple of weeks later Lee tags

me again in the mini raffle, and he won 3 spots and I won 1,” Sobers said.

When asked how he came up with the winning number, he said it was a pretty simple process. “I was hanging out with my 9-year old and asked her to pick a number, and she picked the number 205. I said that’s a high number, but she didn’t want to change it, and it turns out Eric pulled 205 as the final prize for the golf cart. The cart was delivered in 3 days, and it was the best $50 I’ve ever spent. We’re really looking forward to this summer to use it even more, it really is an amazing vehicle.”

While he did use a very transparent method in setting up and tracking entries to the cart raffle, Shadoan enlisted some old school style in the process. “I bought a bunch of poker chips and put every entry number on them, then while on Facebook Live I pulled the winners out of a purple Crown Royal bag,” he says. “Sometimes, the simpler way is the best way.”

When Navitas Electric Vehicle Systems decided they wanted to create a custom built cart for unveiling at the PGA Show in Orlando in January 2023, they put their collective heads together to create a truly impressive, 4-wheel drive cart that would catch the attention of attendees.

created from their desire to push the envelope. The cart began as a 2023 Navitas FSK 4WD chassis with dual 5kw motors and dual 600 amp controller units. The cart is equipped with the Eco Battery® 51v/105ah lithium battery pack, and features a 4-passenger configuration with rear-facing seating for 2.

I have simply replaced the headlights with 2021 Dodge fog lights and reduced the size of the taillights using 1981 Dodge taillights.

Q: I'm tired of using a manual forward reverse lever. Can I install a switch instead?

A: Yes, you sure can. There is a conversion kit that allows you to eliminate your manual lever style selector to a rocker switch. These kits are made for earlier model years EZGO, Club Car and Yamaha and can be found at online retailers like CartPros. com with part# 5081. This is a straightforward install, but it should be completed by someone that understands electrical schematics and is comfortable with electronics. When the install is complete, you will never strain to put it in forward or reverse as a click of the switch is all it will take.

Q: My E-Z-GO Powerwise Charger is not working. Can I repair it?

A: Yes, the Powerwise chargers are excellent candidates to repair and many parts are available. The culprits causing the problem are either the diodes inside or the relay on the main board as it activates the charger. Both parts are much less expensive than a new charger and are easy to install. There are many YouTube videos on this procedure as well as how to fully test your Powerwise charger to troubleshoot.

Q: My cart has been sitting unused and now the back wheels are locked up. What can I do?

A: I would suspect your rear brake cable is stuck in place and not allowing the shoes to disengage. It could also be corrosion on the side of the drums that are preventing the wheels from turning. Safely jack up the cart from the rear, remove the rear wheels and hit the drums with a hammer all around to try to free the shoes from contacting the drums. Most drums have a hole in them to see inside. If you can find the star adjuster at the bottom you can use a long flathead screwdriver to turn the wheel counterclockwise to release the tension on the drums to remove. Once the drum is removed, clean inside with brake cleaner and lightly scuff the inside of the drum to get off any rust. With the drum back on, apply the brake pedal and inspect to determine that the arms on the underside of the drums are moving to actuate the shoes inside. Your brake cable should be lubed accordingly or replaced as they do stretch out over time. If that doesn't solve your problem and your wheels are still locked up, you may have a rear differential or axle issue.
